What Sets Our Clinic Apart?

My job as an acupuncturist is to find out why your body is not healing itself. That is the true key to guiding someone to health. Once we diagnose and treat the root cause, along with the symptomatic problem, you have a greater chance to fully heal.

I use a treatment strategy that incorporates asking, looking, listening, and palpating to formulate what we call a root and branch diagnosis. For example, if a patient comes in complaining of lower back pain we diagnosis the entire body through the use of palpation and find the specific treatment points that most alleviate the symptoms. Often times we find weaknesses with the immune system or adrenal system that can prevent the body from healing fully.

This use of palpation and pressure-pain release system is the hallmark of Kiiko Matsumoto style of acupuncture. It provides an immediate guideline to both practitioner and patient that they are receiving or administering the best treatment. There is a saying in Chinese Medicine that if you stand a pole in the sun you should see its shadow. If needles are inserted into the body and there is no change, it is NOT the right treatment! Because I am able to read the body’s immediate physical feedback in real time during the treatment it ensures that you are receiving the best treatment possible.

Additionally we take our time with you. An appointment generally lasts 60 – 75 minutes. At no extra charge, we give nutritional counseling, herbal consulting, cupping, moxibustion, and shiatsu as needed. We educate you about your problems from both an Eastern and a Western medical perspective, as well as why and how it can be healed according to those same principles. We also prescribe “homework” so that your body is getting treated every day until you are fully healed.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

No, acupuncture should not hurt. Sometimes there is a moment when the needle enters the skin where the patient may feel a small momentary pinching sensation, eventually creating a dull pressure or tingling around the area during the treatment. This is natural and the vast majority people really learn to love the needles! Most people are amazed by how relaxed they feel during and after the treatment. This can only occur if the treatment is comfortable and gentle.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

As long as a competent practitioner performs acupuncture it is extremely safe. Acupuncturists are required to use one-time use disposable needles.

Does Insurance Cover Acupuncture?

Some insurance companies do cover acupuncture and the list is growing as acupuncture continues to rise in popularity. Central Path Acupuncture will gladly give you any and all receipts and documentation to submit for insurance reimbursement.

As a sole provider / practitioner Acupuncture North does not direct bill insurance. A superbill with medial and diagnostic coding is provider at the time of appointment for submission to your insurance company for self reimbursement.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This is unique to the individual. For most chronic conditions, 5-7 treatments on a weekly basis tend to offer the best outcome with some treatment regimens lasting as along as ten treatments. Some people notice an immediate improvement in their health while for others acupuncture tends to have a cumulative effect over several visits. We guarantee that you will feel different walking out of our office than you do walking in.

Does the Clinic Offer Chinese Herbs?

Although I have studied Chinese Herbs, I currently do not prescribe any herbal medicine.
